Shanahans on the Green

Quite simply the best steak in Ireland. Think of it. For the starter, a large pancake covered in a wafer thin layer of smoked salmon, warmed, a huge dollop of creme freche in the middle, topped with caviar.

The steak, corr. Did I mention the steak? Closest to Oregon I've ever experienced. You'd think your knife had 'Moses' engraved down the side it parts so easily. Served with mashed potato and creamed spinach straight from Dante's Seventh. Wonderful!

Talking about the desserts will get me arrested. The only drawback is the price, but what the hell? Live a little....

The Duke, on Duke St.

In between Dawson and Grafton st. Still the best balance between lunchtime grub and night-time atmosphere....

Department of the Environment

Opposite George's quay, next to the Irish Financial Services Centre. One may see the indigenous heroin-selling life on the steps of Custom House plying their trade every weekday morning. Ironic really....

Raynards

Weird place. Apparently the oldest venue to be still included in the 'Dublin Social Circle'. Flash some cash and try to get upstairs if you enjoy people watching. You'll be surprised who you bump into...or at least who it's pointed out to you afterwards that you were dancing with. Bless 'em

Lapello's on Dame

«sigh» oh dear. Oh dear oh dear. Still arguably the best venue of it's kind in Dublin. God bless the fairer sex...

TGI Friday

I know, I know. It's a crass venue, but the sad fact is, it's still the one place in Dublin you can go for cocktails that are so powerful you don't really care what the food is like. But it's also the one place you'll find that most sought-after dish, deep-fried breadcrumbed jalapeno peppers injected with cream cheese.........hmmmm
