Off Tara Street, just south of the river, you'll find one of the most popular bars known to man. (I drink there anyway). This bar is the star of the show 'Bachelor's Walk', a reasonable soap-type thing on Irish television. Drinking there can sometimes lead to your (I know, I know, hilarious at the time) antics ending up on prime-time television.
Great pint too.
